If there were a transgender YouTuber, who had mostly underage fans, who was pushing the idea that you can just take a knife to your genitals and become a woman and "my doctor says there's nothing wrong with chopping off my own dick at home with a rusty butter knife!" then you would also see people on gurugossiper expressing outrage like they do for Eugenia Cooney. Plus every transgender YouTuber I've seen has talked about how important it is to see a doctor, to get therapy, and to get support if you're feeling uncomfortable in your own body. After years of therapy, seeing a doctor, etc they made this decision. You won't see a huge thread shitting all over Educating Shanny because she is very open about her eating disorder struggles and a huge theme in her videos is that people who are binging/purging/starving need to get help and that it's horrible for their body and look at all the terrible effects her own eating disorder has had on her teeth, body, sex life, and psychological well-being.Īnd as far as the transgender people go, they didn't just randomly mutilate their genitals one day. " If there was a 400lb YouTuber, who appealed mainly to child viewers, who never addressed his or her weight and who simply insisted that "My doctor says I'm fine! I eat totally normally! I'm completely 100% healthy so I don't even know why you guys are asking me these questions" we would all call bullshit on it and there would be an entire thread on gurugossiper about how this person is a bad influence and needs to address the elephant in the room for their child viewers and that obesity is a huge problem in the USA and elsewhere and this person is a shitty person for pretending like it's not a problem.Īlso, not all YouTubers with eating disorders are like Eugenia. They will either say "Yes, I'm aware that I'm overweight and I'm trying / not trying to lose weight and here is an explanation of my thought process around that. With regards to overweight YouTubers - Because the people that are overweight will address the topic. So here are my discussion points on the matter: Some people are just curious and unaware of their own ignorance on the topic. also I don't like this idea that when people ask questions (even insensitive ones) about gays, transgender people, and fat people that it automatically means they are a homophobic, transphobic, KKK-member who needs to be executed by the thought police. I'm unsure if you're trolling or not, but I'll bite. Well, I'm sorry if my poor choice of words came across as transphobic or insensitive, but it was a genuine question.
